High School: Four-year letterman at Archbishop Rummel High for coach David Baudry where he saw time at third base and on the mound...helped the Raiders advance to the state playoffs in his final three seasons, claiming the district title as a junior...twice named first-team all-state and District MVP and was named first-team all-district three times...for his career, posted a 1.37 ERA, 26-4 record, 288 strikeouts and a .147 opponent batting average in 188.1 innings of work...as a senior, went 6-2 with a 0.77 ERA, 100 strikeouts and allowed just two extra-base hits in 63.1 innings...tossed a no-hitter in the 2007 state playoffs against St. Paul's when he struck out 10...had a career-best 15 strikeouts against Holy Cross...as a junior, claimed All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball after going 11-1 with 91 strikeouts and a 1.42 ERA in 59.0 innings on the mound and hitting .325 with eight doubles, four triples and two home runs at the plate...as a member of Nationwide Realty, teamed with fellow Tulane freshman Kirk Cunningham to win back-to-back American Legion state titles and claim the 2006 national championship...won the Bob Fellar Pitching Award at the 2006 American Legion World Series after posting a 2-1 record with one save, 30 strikeouts, a 2.57 ERA and a.207 opponent batting average...also earned three letters in football where he earned all-district honors as a kicker and all-state distinction as a punter...participated in the Tournament of Stars and earned a tryout with the U.S. Junior National Team in 2006...off the diamond, was a member of the Honor Roll and National Honor Society.
