Meet Scott Powell

2007: Saw action in 23 games as a sophomore, all off the bench...hit .333 after going 1-for-3 with an RBI...scored six runs and stole three bases...five of those runs and all three thefts came as a pinch runner...had plate appearances at Southern Cal (2/10) - when he drew a walk - Siena (3/18), at UNO (3/20) and vs. Memphis (4/6)...recorded lone hit vs. Siena...played perfect defense with seven putouts as an outfielder.

2006: Played in nine games off the bench as a redshirt-freshman...hitless in three at-bats, but has scored a pair or runs for the Green Wave in pinch-running situations...has also seen time as a defensive replacement in the outfield where he has two putouts...scored a run against Stephen F. Austin (4/23) and plated the tying run in Tulane's 10-9 come-from-behind win over Southern Miss (5/14).

2005: Redshirted his first season in the Green Wave program...off the diamond, was a member of Tulane's 3.0 Club.

Prior To Tulane: Spent the 2003-04 academic year at The Hotchkiss School (Lakeville, Conn.) where he hit .440 with a .615 slugging percentage for coach Paul Oberto...earned All-New England and team MVP honors in 2004 after leading Hotchkiss in home runs, RBI, doubles and triples.

Summer Ball: Played for the Fairfax Nationals of the Clark Griffith Baseball League in 2005, the Holyoke Giants of the New England Collegiate Baseball League in 2006 and the Gerry Lane Hummers of the Baton Rouge CC in 2007...with the Nationals, hit .227 (22-for-97) with six doubles, three home runs and 15 RBI...in 2006, started 20 of the 24 games he played in, hitting .206 (14-for-68) with a pair of doubles, 11 RBI and a steal...with Gerry Lane, hit .356 with 12 doubles and 18 stolen bases while leading the Hummers to a first-place regular-season finish.

High School: Four-year letterman at Newman High for coach Billy Fitzgerald...helped lead the Greenies to the playoff all four years as a prepster, including state championships as a freshman and senior, and a pair of regional titles...never hit lower than .380 during his prep career, including a .402 mark with seven triples, four home runs, 34 RBI and 10 stolen bases as a senior when he earned all-state and all-metro honors...named All-District 9-2A and all-metro as a junior after hitting .443 with 27 RBI and 14 steals...hit .386 with 17 RBI as a sophomore, and connected at a .400 clip with a pair of RBI as a rookie...also lettered four times in football and twice in track and field...off the diamond, earned Newman's Headmaster's Award as a senior in 2003.
