2003: Redshirted his first season with the Green Wave program.

Summer Ball: Played for the New Jersey Coles of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League in 2003...selected to play in the ACBL All-Star game after going 3-0 with a 1.78 ERA in nine appearances and five starts...ranked fourth on the club in strikeouts (31) and allowed just four extra-base hits in 35.1 innings of work.

High School: Played two years at Durham Academy for coach Verle Regnerus before completing his prep career at Riverside High for coach David Norman...saw action at first base and on the mound...for his career, tallied a 9-4 record with a 4-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio, and posted a .375 batting average...earned All-Pac 6 honors in each of his final two prep seasons, and was named to the Pac-6 All-Tournament team as a pitcher his senior year...played first base for the Region 3 team and helped lead the squad to the championship at the 2001 North Carolina State Games...as a sophomore, earned All-TISAC honors...off the diamond, was a member of the National Honor Society and the Honor Roll.
