Prior to Tulane: Pitched two seasons at Vanderbilt University for coach Tim Corbin...made 18 career appearances with one start...as a freshman, pitched in 13 games and recorded a 5.24 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 22.1 innings of work...had a pair of scoreless relief appearances in the 2006 NCAA Atlanta Regional against Georgia Tech and helped the Commodores set a school record with a string of 38.2 consecutive scoreless innings from March 18-25, 2006...as a sophomore, appeared in five games, going 4.1 innings with three strikeouts.

Summer Ball: Played for the Torrington Twisters of the New England Collegiate Baseball League in 2006 and the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod Collegiate Baseball League in 2007...with the Twisters, led the team to the Southern Division championship after going 4-1 with a 3.19 ERA in 10 appearances, including six starts...struck out 30 with 18 walks in 42.1 innings of work...with Mariners, ranked third on the team in innings pitched (43.2), tied for fourth in appearances (13) and seventh in starts (five) while posting a 4.12 ERA, .263 opponent batting average, 34 strikeouts and 12 walks...also had a hit in his lone at-bat of the summer.

High School: Five-year letterman at Hamden Hall Country Day School for coach Joe Fontana where he saw action at first base, shortstop, centerfield and on the mound...helped lead the Hornets to a combined 54-15 record over his final two prep seasons when HHCDS claimed back-to-back New England Championships...named Gatorade Connecticut Player of the Year and claimed All-America honors from the National High School Coaches Association, Collegiate Baseball and Street & Smith as a senior...earned All-Fairchester League honors all five prep seasons and was a three-time New Haven Register All-Area selection...set school record with over 400 career strikeouts...posted 130 strikeouts in 65.0 innings on the mound and hit .450 as a senior...played in the AFLAC All-America Game in 2004 and earned a spot on the U.S. Youth National Team in 2003 when he pitched in two games, including a start, tossing 6.0 shutout innings with nine strikeouts and a walk while going 2-for-5 at the plate with a double and five RBI...helped guide Team USA to a 7-1 record and win the gold medal at the International Baseball Federation XI "AA" World Youth Championships in Taiwan...during the summers, played for the Long Island Titans and helped lead the team to a combined 43-5 record.
