TULANE HEAD COACH Rick Jones
On the game today
"It was just a real disappointing day. As well as we played the last two nights, today Central Florida just really took it to us. Every ball they hit had eyes, and they had some really good at-bats early in the ballgame, and stretched that lead to the point where it was tough for us. Then, we only had three hits. I thought their lefty did a real nice job of keeping us off balance. We didn't have very many good swings. With the exception of our defense, it was just a really tough day for us. You've got to give Central Florida a lot of credit, they really played well. They pitched well and they swung it well. Defensively, they made one error. They were just sound."
On the first two innings of the game
"We were a pitch away from getting out of it a couple times, but to their credit, they put good swings with two strikes and had a couple balls that found eyes, but at the same time, they've got to put it in play for that to happen. I wasn't expecting that. I wasn't expecting to see them jump out like that. The ball wasn't carrying today, and I felt like it was going to be another ballgame similar to the last couple of days to be honest with you. That's just why you play to find out. It's how do we respond to this now. The key is, it's over with. It was a very tough loss for us, and it needs to be a motivator because we're going to have to play well down the stretch. We know that."
TULANE CATCHER Jared Dyer
On the game today
"We just didn't get it done off the bat at the start of the game. Once the third inning started, we played really well. The bullpen did well. But their pitcher out there, he did a heck of a job mixing stuff up, and just kept us off balance and we couldn't get anything going on him. If we take back the first two innings, it's a zero-zero game. We've just got to go out and get ready to take care of business Tuesday."
UCF INTERIM HEAD COACH CRAIG COZART
On the game today
"We took advantage of some offensive situations early. When you put up six runs in the first and second innings, it makes it tough. Especially on a Sunday. We had some balls find some holes and we hit some balls on the barrel, which we hadn't done all weekend. You've got to give credit again to Shooter Hunt and (Matt) Petiton. We had eight hits coming in to today and we ended up with 12 today. So that was a big difference. We got a quality outing out of Mitch Houck. It had been a while since he settled in like he did today. So, a lot of good things on that front."
