Money Talks - Inside Tulane Baseball With Grayden Greiner

February 17, 2008

Hello everyone this is your captain Grayden "G Money" Griener talking. I just wanted to welcome everyone back for a new season of fun and excitement.

Before I go in depth of our upcoming season I just wanted to thank everyone for their continued support over the past couple of seasons. We greatly appreciate it and I can't stress it enough of how happy we are to be back where we're appreciated. We thank the folks on Airline for the temporary hospitality, but I know I speak for everyone when I say thank goodness we don't have to play another season there!

Now with all of that being said, we will talk about this upcoming season and our current ability level, which is stellar. I know how excited everyone is about witnessing the first game in our brand new stadium. Our team has been putting in countless hours so everyone can have an electric opening night.

We've been going at it for several months now and after a positive fall practice and a "so far, so good" spring practice we're ready to give ya'll the entertainment you deserve. Our pitching looks great and our hitting has been exceptional the last couple of weeks. Some balls have been leaving the park in intrasquad which is a positive due to a constant wind in the face during fall practice.

The FieldTurf is a life saver due to the fact we will never pull a tarp ever again! To quote Coach Jones, "for those of you coming in from the North Shore and it looks like rain, just know that we are playing." So don't worry about coming in for a game because we will get it in even if we're delayed for a while.

To give you an idea of how much we will be playing in the first couple of weeks we play five games in the first six days followed by a flight to Minnesota and games on the following Tuesday and Wednesday. It's safe to say that we will be feeling a little sore after the first few weeks of the season, but don't worry because our continued workouts help us get through a long and enduring season.

We also have a bevy of depth and talent at all positions, so don't be surprised to see a lot of players getting action early in the season. Right now, we need all our guys healthy so we can get back to a regional and you know where after that! Our team attitude is great and we can't wait until Friday Night

To all the previous players in our great program, we just want to say thank you for building a new home for us. Without your leadership and constant success over the years, we wouldn't be the team we are today. Every time I take the field, I can't not think of the great players in the past who would love to give up their jobs and play a full season in the new stadium. I know both my brothers, Keith and Kyle Graffagnini, would love the opportunity.

Thanks to all of you again for everything you did for us and please have the "Hullaballoo" louder than ever because we can't wait to hear it. Please feel free to e-mail for any suggestions about the blog and things that the fans may want to hear about. I know I can't delve into everything but I'll do my best to always give you an interesting read. With that being said this is your captain G-Money cashing out!

Roll Wave, Grayden "G$" Griener
