The Green Wave played its first game at Tulane Gym (now Fogelman Arena) on Dec. 15, 1933. On Saturday, Dec. 20, Tulane will celebrate Fogelman Arena's 70th birthday with events surrounding a basketball doubleheader in the facility. The following photo gallery highlights many of the great men's basketball players and moments in the building's history. By no means meant to be all-inclusive, it is a glimpse of the men's basketball greatness in the gym. Tulane's women's basketball and volleyball teams have also enjoyed much success in the facility.

After 70 years of basketball, Fogelman Arena is still an excellent venue to watch college hoops, even more so with the addition of air conditioning in 2001.

|
During the fall of 2001, Fogelman Arena received a major makeover. In addition to a paint job and a refurbished floor, the arena was fitted with air conditioning for the first time in hits history.

Many of college basketball's greats have played on the corner of Freret and McAlister, including Dan Issel, Dave Cowens and Pete Maravich.

The Home of the Green Wave is routinely packed with Tulane students and fans, and the cozy atmosphere makes for opponent nightmares.

|
Fogelman Arena, shown here in 1996, was built primarily with revenue from Tulane's 1932 Rose Bowl appearance.

Cheerleaders and various mascots have helped the Tulane men's basketball team compile a 501-246 (.671) record in Fogelman Arena (entering 2003-04).

Big Jack Ardon (1959-62), a 6-9 native of Estonia, is the only Green Wave player to have collected over 1,000 rebounds in his career.

|
Johnny Arthurs (1966-69) still holds Tulane's single-season scoring record after tallying 666 points (25.6 ppg) in 1968-69.
