2001: layed in seven games, but was hampered all season by a sprained ankle suffered in the opener against BYU (8/25). Started at tackle against BYU and then in the finale against Southern Miss (11/17) at guard. Saw 275 plays of action on the line, with a 70 percent grade. 2000: Played in four games for the Wave, seeing action at tackle against East Carolina (9/16), Cincinnati (9/30), Houston (11/4) and Memphis (11/18). 1999: Saw action in three games. 1998: Redshirted the season. HIGH SCHOOL: A 1998 graduate of West Brook High School in Beaumont, Texas, where he played for Coach Al Rabb. Named second-team all-state in Class 5A. A two-time all-district and all-area selection. Selected to Houston Chronicle and Waco Herald-Tribune Top 100 teams. Key member of West Brook offense that averaged 355 yards per game in 1997. Did not allow a sack either of his last two seasons. Also lettered for three years with the track team and one with the basketball squad. Named school's athlete of the year. PERSONAL: Derick Lamont Bugg, Jr. Born November 19 1979 in Rahway, N.J.
