TULANE: A returning letterwinner... begins fall drills as the No. 2 weakside linebacker.

2006: Played in 10 games and earned his first collegiate start in the home opener against SMU... recorded two tackles against Houston, Mississippi State and Southern Miss... broke up a pass against the Cougars and had one stop for lost yardage against the Bulldogs... did not see action against Rice and UTEP.

2005: Did not play; received a red-shirt season.

HIGH SCHOOL: Earned first team all-district honors in 2003 and 2004 and was named outstanding linebacker of his high school team both years... a three-year letterman who served as team captain his senior season... as a senior, made 132 tackles, including 90 solo stops and eight tackles for loss... picked off one pass and broke up five others... credited with eight quarterback hurries, recovered a pair of fumbles and forced four... as a junior, tallied 89 tackles, 56 solo... Clear Lake advanced to the Class 5A semifinals in 2004 and finished with a 13-2 record... also lettered twice in baseball where he played catcher... qualified for the Academic Honor Roll.

PERSONAL: Major is humanities... born James Martin McMurchy on November 21, 1986, in Killeen, Texas... the son of Tara McMurchy and Randy McMurchy... named to Tulane's 3.0 Club in 2007.
