2001: Redshirted the season after joining the team in January for spring drills.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2000 graduate of Venice High School, where he lettered in football and track. Earned all-league honors as a senior playing for Coach Angelo Gasca at the same high school that produced former Green Wave quarterback J.P. Losman. Tallied 125 receptions for 450 yards and three touchdowns during his career.

PERSONAL: Lyneal Louis Strain. Born May 15, 1982 in Los Angeles. The son of Aubrey and Doreen Strain. Majoring in the humanities.
