![]() Tulane sophomore point guard Ashley Langford takes you inside the Tulane women's basketball season.
NEW ORLEANS -After a tough loss to Mississippi State University the season has come to an end. Tulane women's basketball has come a long way this season. Last year we were just a bunch of freshman, sophomores, and one lone junior. This year we blossomed into a post season squad with a bright future; although next season we will not have the deadly shooting of Jami Montagnino or the lock down defense of D'Aundra Henry. Both our seniors have been tremendous to the team and are irreplaceable, so it will be a challenge for next year's team. Replacing Jami and D'Aundra will not be easy, but it starts with everyone's work ethic over the summer. Most of us would love to take the whole summer off and just relax, but we all know that is not going to help the team. Rigorous summer workouts will be on the agenda everyday, which should help improve everyone's game. I believe that this year has given us remarkable experience and showed us what it takes to get to the NCAA tournament. Personally, as I sit and watch the rest of the NCAA games I've noticed how intense these teams are every game. In order to make the NCAA tournament next year we all need to elevate our games over the summer and realize the importance of intensity. Many people will more than likely doubt our ability as a team next year, but we were picked to finish sixth in the league this year, so we are used to being underrated. With a berth in the WNIT we have set our program up for future success. Post season play is not only a confidence booster, but gives Tulane University exposure. Many teams that earned a bid to the WNIT have received a NCAA tournament berth the next year. Hopefully we can continue that precedent. I would like to thank everyone for reading my logs and hope that next season you all will be right back at Fogelman Arena ready for another exciting season!
