Tulane Faces Marshall in C-USA Women's Basketball Tournament

NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane Green Wave women's basketball team will be seeded 11th in the Conference USA women's basketball championship and take on 6th seeded Marshall on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. CT at New UCF Arena in Orlando.

Tulane (16-13 overall, 6-10 C-USA) defeated second-seeded SMU Saturday on Senior Night, 71-68, to finish the regular season tied for ninth, but lost out on the three-team tie-breaker.

Thursday's first round gets underway with seven-seeded Memphis (7-9) vs 10th-seeded Tulsa (6-10) at 11 a.m. CT. The winner advances to face second-seeded SMU (11-5) on Friday at 11 a.m. CT.

Tulane will play the second game Thursday, against the Thundering Herd of Marshall (7-9). Tulane downed Marshall on Feb. 10, 61-56, at Fogelman Arena. The winner will advance to the quarterfinals against third-seeded UAB (10-6).

In the late session, fifth-seeded Southern Miss (8-8) takes on host UCF (3-13) at 4:30 p.m. CT, with the winner meeting fourth-seeded Houston (9-7) in the quarters.

The final game Thursday features the eighth seeded East Carolina Pirates (7-9) against the ninth-seeded Rice Owls (7-9) at 7 p.m. CT. The winner meets number one seed UTEP (16-0) in the quarterfinals.
