Langford's Log Archive

NEW ORLEANS - So this week's log is pretty exciting for the simple fact that your Tulane Women's Basketball team is the Conference USA's regular season champions. We beat a feisty Tulsa squad (that actually won the regular season championship and conference tournament championship a year ago) in order to grasp the title solely. Previous to the Tulsa win, we faced SMU and with the win we gained a share of the Conference championship, but claimed it all to ourselves with the Tulsa win. Both games were at home, which created a wonderful environment and the Tulsa game was senior night. I'm so glad that we sent our seniors, Jami Montagnino and D'Aundra Henry out in good fashion.

Kudos to Coach Stockton, Jami Montagnino, D'Aundra Henry, and myself! The conference honored our team with six post season awards. Jami picked up First Team All Conference and All Academic Team honors, while fellow senior D'Aundra added Third Team All Conference and All Defensive Team honors to her slate. I received Third Team All Conference honors and Coach Stockton was named Coach of the Year. These individual awards are wonderful, but we all are aware that none of this would be possible without the help of our teammates and coaching staff.

Now that we have an even larger target on our back, we head to the conference tournament today. Three days, three nights is the theme of the tournament journey. We have to win three games in three days in order to win the championship. Our sights are set on being champions so we have to be ready to play in each game; there is no room for excuses or mental lapses. Kendra Barnes is from Tulsa so we will have her family support and many other parents are making the trip.

Our first test is Friday against the winner of Marshall and Houston. If you aren't making the trip to Tulsa to support us, make sure you keep up with us on www.TulaneGreenWave.com!
