NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane volleyball team continues its spring campaign this weekend at the 24-team Texas Tornadoes College Spring tournament in Houston. Last season, the Green Wave were the runner-up at the event. This year's Tornadoes tournament will feature 24 teams, including eight NCAA teams from last season (Kansas State, New Mexico State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas, Texas State, Southern California, Wichita State) as well as Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, Louisiana-Lafayette, New Orleans, Notre Dame, Rice, South Florida, SMU, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M, TCU, UTEP, UTSA and West Point. Last season, Tulane placed second of 21 teams in the Tournament. The Green Wave won its pool with Baylor and USC, and advanced to the finals with a win over New Mexico State before falling to Oklahoma. Tulane will return to campus to host its own tournament on Saturday, April 12, at the Reilly Center. The field will feature UNO, Alabama, Jackson State, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Southeastern Louisiana and Southern Miss. The Green Wave will play Alabama at 4 p.m. in the showcase match of the tournament (best of five), sandwiched between the Tulane football team's spring game at the adjacent Westfeldt Practice Facility at 1 p.m., and the baseball team's 6 p.m. contest against Southern Miss at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
