Radosevic Named LSWA Volleyball Player of the Year; Kritza Coach of the Year

NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane volleyball added to its list of post-season accolades as junior outside hitter Sara Radosevic was named Player of the Year and head coach Liz Kritza earned Coach of the Year honors from the Louisiana Sports Writer's Association. Radosevic was joined on the All-Louisiana First Team by teammates Ksenija Vlaskovic and Jen Linder. Bridget Wells picked up Second Team honors. Radosevic earns her third-straight All-Louisiana honor. The junior outside hitter from Zagreb, Croatia is a three-time AVCA All-America honorable mention, and First Team All-Region honoree. The First Team All-Conference USA selection moved up to second on the Wave's all-time kills list (1,469) this season with 586 kills this season. With her career 5.23 KPG, she could reach Alicia Robertson's (1991-94) career mark (1,963) in 95 more games. She also became Tulane's single-season aces leader and led Tulane with a career-high tying 34 kills in the win at LSU. Vlaskovic, a sophomore outside hitter from Pozarevac, Serbia, finished sixth in C-USA in kills per game with 4.41, joining Radosevic among the single-season leaders in kills at Tulane. The All-America Honorable Mention by the AVCA earned First Team All C-USA and AVCA All-Region honors in 2007. Junior middle blocker Jen Linder picked up first team honors from the LWSA after being named Second Team All-Conference USA. She led C-USA in hitting percentage for the second-straight year, connecting at a .401 clip this season. The junior from Austin, Texas, also earned Second Team All-Conference honors last year after leading C-USA with a .437 hitting percentage. The Green Wave finished 11-1 this season when Linder has 4.0+ attempts per game, with the lone loss against #7 Wisconsin.
Junior right side hitter Bridget Wells was also a First Team AVCA Midwest Region selection after picking up First Team All-Conference USA accolades. A right side hitter from Raleigh, N.C., she turned in a breakout performance in her junior season, improving her hitting percentage by almost .200 points to finish in the top 10 in Conference USA at .323. Head coach Liz Kritza, the 2007 AVCA Midwest Region Coach of the Year, was named Louisiana Coach of the Year after posting a 4-0 record against in-state rivals with wins over Louisiana-Lafayette, LSU, McNeese State and New Orleans. The 2007 Conference USA co-Coach of the Year, Kritza guided the Green Wave to a 28-6 overall record. For the second-straight year, Tulane turned in its best-ever Conference USA finish and top Conference USA win total. The Green Wave improved upon last year's 11-5, third-place finish in 2006 to place second at 14-2. In 2007, the Green Wave set school records for kills, kills per game, hitting percentage, assists, and assists per game. Tulane's assists per game were the most in Conference USA single-season history, an the Wave also set the C-USA mark for assists per game in conference games. |
