2008 TAF Goals 2008 - A Return to Full Strength The Board of Tulane recently voted to restore Green Wave athletics to full Division I-A status by the academic year 2010-2011, when Tulane will field a full complement of 16 intercollegiate sports. This announcement punctuates the significant progress of Tulane Athletics over the past several months. With our return to full strength and the recent grand opening of Greer Field at Turchin Stadium, there has never been a more exciting and promising time to support the Green Wave. For fiscal year 2008, the primary goal of TAF will be to surpass pre-Katrina levels and build upon that growth.

TULANE ATHLETICS FUND CONCLUDES RECORD-SETTING YEAR NEW ORLEANS -The Tulane Athletics Fund (TAF), the official fundraising arm of the Green Wave athletic department, achieved record-setting membership this past year, Tulane Athletic Director Rick Dickson announced Monday. Donations to TAF, the athletics annual fund which supports all of Tulane's sports programs and student-athletes, totaled $1,861,845.80 for the 2006-07 fiscal year that ended June 30. In addition, the number of TAF donors topped the 2,200 mark for the first time with a grand total of 2,210. "These figures are yet another example of Tulane Athletics' remarkable recovery," Dickson said. "I am continually impressed with the commitment of our loyal donors and fans who enabled us to achieve this mark. Additionally, our TAF staff and volunteers from our TAF Advisory Board worked tirelessly to achieve these record-setting results and I applaud their efforts." In 2004-05, TAF raised $2.1 million for Tulane student-athletes from 2,085 donors. The 2005-06 fiscal year, which was interrupted by Hurricane Katrina, saw TAF totals of $1.4 million from 1,550 donors. By comparison, the 2006-07 fiscal year represented a 42% increase in donors and a 25% increase in dollars over the previous year. "As Tulane Athletics returns to full strength, continued growth of TAF is essential to sustaining our tradition of academic and athletic excellence," Dickson said. "Purchasing tickets and attending games is important, but contributions to TAF are vital to the viability of our athletics program. Tulane Athletics must continue to grow and enhance the base of support for our outstanding student-athletes." The Tulane Athletics Fund is a component of the Tulane Fund, the university's annual fund. Overall, the Tulane Fund raised more than $12 million in the 2006-07 fiscal year, second only to FY06, when all annual fund gifts were directed to the Rebuilding Fund immediately after Hurricane Katrina. The Tulane Athletics Fund is already accepting donations toward its 2007-08 annual fund drive.
